My connection was out on Friday and fuzzy all weekend. Friday was really great, though, and Saturday I just stayed at home and cleaned some and read a lot. And Sunday I had church and then went home to clean more and then had a meeting and dinner with a potential roommate (goodness it'd be good to have a roommate!). And today I went for lunch (table-for-one style) at one of the local Japanese/Chinese/American buffet places in my neighborhood, which I've been meaning to check out for a long time. And then I took a nap (as Barbara would say, because I AM an Aquarious!) and am cleaning a bit now and maybe Melanie will call and we'll go for a walk, and maybe this evening I'll get to hang out with Kim and whether or not either of those things happen, I'll be able to go up for dollar Guiness night at the Starlite. It's nice, now that the PRT's over, eating fried foods and other less healthy options which I've been passing on more often than not for the last several months. Not that my weight was a big issue (being within standards), but that they don't help you perform at your physical best.
Anyway, with my breathing issues getting worse and our lack of sit-ups during the command workout times, I really thought I would do worse than I previously had on the PRT. But we started with sit-ups (as always) and last time I think I did 86, and this time I did 100, within two minutes. Had I done one more, I would have maxed out for my age group. Like last time, I did 50 pushups and then stopped because that was already over my max. Then we did the run -- last cycle I did the mile and a half within 11:20 and my XO beat me to claim wardroom bragging rights (for beating one of the youngest members of the command). My then-CO retired, and my then-XO is now my CO, and I stayed ahead of him during the whole run this time, and finished about 30 or 45 seconds ahead of him, at 10:31.
I REALLY thought my run would be worse this time, possibly much worse. I did have to use my inhaler twice during the run and once when I finished and was still having an attack for a few minutes after finishing. But it did calm down and I still kept active and, although I can still feel that very strange sensation when I breathe in deeply, I don't feel any worse for the wear overall.
And I got bragging rights back. :)
So then we had our command picnic, which was a nice, low-key time to spend with the command. And then some of us went out to the beach and hung out there with a few individuals' friends. So Friday was great -- there's still plenty of laughter to be had in the memories.
