What a beautiful piece of heartache this has all turned out to be. Lord knows we've learned the hard way all about healthy apathy. And I use these words pretty loosely. There's so much more to life than words..
I really think I'll be ok. They've taken their toll these latter days.

this might be one of the most awesome things I have EVER seen....
I saw this video on the news last week. After the little girl was gotten out of the toy cube, the business wanted to "make up for her ordeal", so they offered her her choice of the toys in the cube. (She chose several.) Then, as soon as the adults had their backs turned, she headed for the hole again. Why not? They rewarded her so well the last time! It's NOT a good idea to reward a child for bad or dangerous behavior. (I know...I'm a mean mother--ask my kids. ;-) )
Linda, I am SO with you! I didn't see the news story or the after, but I figured SOMETHING would have happened from it... One of the things I did when watching it with friends was to MST3K it, like the first time you see the mom I knew that she was asking the other girl where her sister was, and the sister's pointing at it and she's like "no, she's not in there" and then she looks in the friggin parking lot for her.. I mean, seriously, her daughter could've been kidnapped or severely injured so long before that and she wouldn't've known at all.
But then, I remember being a kid and kids were expected to get injured at points and kids didn't get kidnapped so often, so it was sortof a magical time in retrospect... Of course that little girl was just in heaven and had no idea why everyone was so upset.
